See what’s trending now—plus, how to wear and pair them!
MC: “Velvet’s a trend that can seem a little formal and intimidating, but it’s so easy to wear! The trick is to figure out your personal spin on it—like wearing a velvet bootie with your favorite pair of jeans or wearing a bigger velvet piece like a blazer or dress. Velvet comes in so many colors this season, so find your favorite and wear it as a new wardrobe essential.”
ES: “This season, velvet’s coming in every silhouette. Keep it from looking costumey by pairing with sleek, modern pieces.”
MC: “Metallics this season are soft neutrals and blush tones that look great against any skin tone. Just like velvet, it’s find the color that works best for you (and you love!). Have fun with it during the day by pairing it with something that’s more casual or an everyday staple. Neutral metallics are great for casual outings, while bold-colored metallics are perfect for festive occasions—don’t be afraid to double up on metallics or rock a bold lip, too!
ES: “Many people consider metallics to be just for evening or dressing up, but not this season! I personally love dressing down metallics for day, like pairing colored denim with a metallic sweater or a metallic midi with a crisp, white button-down.”
3. Dark Florals
MC: “Moody florals are a great way to wear floral prints in the winter. Pair them with tights or ankle boots or dark pants and jeans. They can actually carry you into any season—more bang for your buck! I like to think of it as a basic print everyone should own.”
ES: “Floral prints aren’t only for warm weather! This holiday, florals have a dark, moody feel. Wear them with other dark colors like red, burgundy, navy or dark green.”
4. Jewel Tones
MC: “Jewel tones are a great way to infuse color into your everyday wardrobe and push your style boundaries a little bit. Bold colors (like red) are great for when you feel like being dangerous or bold (with your style!). Try jewel tones with your favorite workwear pieces or try them with statement jewels for a night out (or in!).”
ES: “Jewel tones are probably the simplest trend to try this season! If you’re a little trend-shy and the idea of wearing anything but black or neutral is a little daunting, wear color as an accessory (like a bag, shoe or scarf). We’re loving colors like bordeaux, purple, emerald green, citrine and sapphire. Trust me, the moment you infuse your outfit with a bit of color the compliments will start rolling in!”
MC: “For the woman who considers herself a romantic, break out the lace. It’s the perfect winter detail. Add a black ankle boot to make lace more edgy, or pair your lace with a softer silhouette like a flowy skirt to keep it on the romantic side. “
ES: “I absolutely love wearing lace—especially in the winter. It’s the easiest way to add femininity to any outfit. This winter, wear a lacy top under a blazer or pair a lace skirt with cozy knits, tights and boots. If this still seems too romantic for you, let a little bit of lace peek out from under a V-neck sweater or jacket.”
